Bio: Toby was a member of Scottish Dance Theatre (Janet Smith) for 8 years. Touring the UK, Europe and beyond. Performing works by choreographers including Liv Lorent, Rui Horta, Hofesh Shechter, James Wilton, Ina Christel Johannessen, Kate Weare and Rachel Lopez De La Nieta. Toby danced with Norrdans (Mira Helenius Martinsson)  in Sweden, for 3 years, touring Sweden and Europe. Performing works by choreographers including Ohad Naharin, Marcos Morau, Thomas Noone, Yossi and Oded, and Fernando Melo. Toby has freelanced with Emma Martin Dance (Dublin) and with Yossi Berg and Oded Graf Dance Theatre (Israel). Toby is a current member of balletLORENT joining in summer 2015 for Snow white which toured across the UK. He is now on a nationwide tour with balletLORENT performing in Rumelstiltskin. Toby now also teaches at dance institutions and companies including  Copenhagen Dance School, NSCD, Rambert School,Balettakademien Goteborg, London Contemporary Dance School, Scottish Dance Theatre, NDCwales, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Skanes Dance Theatre, Norrdans and Boras RTV, and open pro classes in the UK including GDA and The Place and Malmo and Goteborg.

 

Class description:

I teach a [dynamic] release based class using choreographic phrases to warm up the body systemically, centre, floor, jumps, traveling and phrases. There are elements from the teachers and many choreographers i have worked with throughout my career, so there will be some hybrid elements. I like to move a lot and keep it upbeat. I like to work with a mixture of form and structure whilst working towards fluidity, strength and openness. But having been a rep dancer myself for over 11 years, i am sensitive to changing situations. Come along and lets have some fun and dance.
